Finally the long awaited search of manager Jürgen Klopp’s successor next season is set to be over. Liverpool have targeted Sporting Lisbon’s promising young manager Ruben Amorim as the man for the job.

After months of flirting with Bayer Leverkusen’s Xabi Alonso to take over the job next season in which the Spaniard said thanks but no thanks, Liverpool decided with their plan B in the young promising Portuguese tactician. Amorim, 39, has been the manager of Sporting since 2020 since taking over from Silas and let’s just say he’s done absolute wonders with the 19 time Primeira Liga winners. With Sporting, he’s won a league title in the 2020-21 season and the Taça da Liga cup twice and won Manager of the season in 2021. Amorim has made Sporting a frequent Champions League visitor since his helm.

Amorim is known for his tactical knowledge and ability to communicate with his players. He’s a calm and positive guy and his players absolutely enjoy having him as the coach. Something Liverpool players and fans love with the departing Jürgen Klopp.

The deal is nearly done as personal terms between Amorim and Liverpool are agreed and finding a fee to bring him in from Sporting shouldn’t be difficult as Amorim has a £20M release clause on his current contract with Sporting. Liverpool will look to have this deal done as soon as this month as they want to have the next manager ready to go right after the end of the current season.

MLS announced today that New York Red Bulls winger Lewis Morgan will be the Player of Matchday 6 after his impressive hat trick performance against Inter Miami last Saturday.

Morgan, 27, has started his comeback season off with a bang. He’s currently the league top scorer with 5 goals. Morgan is the first NY Red Bulls player to win Player of the Matchday honors since 2022 when former player Luquinhas won it on Week 15 of that season. This is Morgan’s second time winning this honor since his hat trick performance against Toronto FC in that same season in Week 2.

Morgan, who missed all of the 2023 season due to injuries, is looking like the frontrunner for Comeback Player of the Year with the form he’s in. And very much well deserved for a great player and person overall.

The Best Road Loss for New York City

Before you say anything. The headline for this article will confuse you and that’s okay. If you have covered this team, you would know that this team doesn’t play well on the road. But this performance was a very big improvement from recent road performances.

The team played hard and well enough to give FC Cincinnati problems all game. Matt Freese played so well to keep NYCFC in this but unfortunately a brilliant strike from reigning League MVP Lucho Acosta gave the win for the home team and another disappointing result for Nick Cushing’s men.

Tough loss for NYCFC but clearly you can see they are getting a bit better than recent performances. Next match will be a road trip to Fort Lauderdale to take on Inter Miami.

Red Bulls Drowns Inter Miami in a Saturday Rainy Afternoon

The weather was truly insane. A monsoon-eque downpour that put severely streets in Newark and Harrison flooded but it didn’t matter for both teams. The game was highly controversial due to the fact that both teams wanted to postpone the match because of losing their players to international duties but MLS didn’t care as the game was kept on for its 2:00 slate.

The weather was rainy and windy. A cold breeze that made players like Luis Suarez shivering. But the game started and started out with a bang. A beautiful back flick pass from Dane Vanzeir to sets up the super Scotsman Lewis Morgan. A beautiful play from the duo that caused so many chaos for the already poor Inter Miami defense.

Things got worse for the team from South Florida as Lewis Morgan and Dante Vanzeir continued to terrorize their defense. Morgan places a perfect shot past Inter Miami’s CJ Dos Santos.

Morgan then went into provider mode as he takes the ball away from Inter Miami’s Julian Gressel and passes it to Vanzeir who then sets Wiki Carmona to score the 3rd goal of the night. Another embarrassing moment for Miami as they had a day to forget in Harrison, NJ.

The night got even better as Inter Miami’s defense created another error as Dante Vanzeir takes the ball away and unselfishly sets Lewis Morgan up for the hat-trick and puts New York up 4-0 against Miami. A truly incredible performance from Morgan who scores a hat-trick against his former team.

Another historic performance came from Dante Vanzeir who had a club record 4 assists this afternoon. Vanzeir has had a rough first season with the Red Bulls but this season he’s looked every part of why the club brought him in as DP player. A magical afternoon for the home team and something that the club needed after that 3-0 disaster against the Columbus Crew last weekend.

The Red Bulls will now prepare for their next match on the road against Orlando City SC on Saturday March 30th at 7:30 PM/ET
